Vintage:

The Albariño and Caíño come from plots with a lower altitude, that is, with higher humidity and warmer, which means an earlier harvest and therefore greater concentration, lower acidity and more body in the wines. This Albariño is the one that is harvested the earliest, between September 19 and 23, and the Caíño is the last variety to be harvested, between September 29 and October 3, being the latest.

The Loureiro comes from our vineyards of higher altitude and lower humidity, fresher, causing a slower maturation which gives us a lively Loureiro with intense aromas and softness in the mouth. Harvested from September 26 to 28.

This wine provides us with two apparently contradictory characteristics: it is a complex but easy to drink wine.

Terras Gauda Wineries

Terras Gauda Group is made up of three wineries: Bodegas Terras Gauda, Viñedos y Bodegas Pittacum and Quinta Sardonia, and the vegetable canning company A Rosaleira.

Bodegas Terras Gauda was founded in the O Rosal Valley, within the Rías Baixas Designation of Origin, with an initial production of 37,000 bottles from the 1990 harvest. We currently market more than 1.5 million bottles.

Our 160 hectares of vineyards guarantee us, in quantity and quality, the raw materials necessary to make our wines.

Bodegas Terras Gauda's main objective is to produce top quality wines, with their own personality, from noble varieties grown in ideal conditions and vinified according to the tradition of the area, processed with the most advanced technology and the utmost care.

Since 2000 we have been certified in the Quality Management System, according to the ISO 9001:2000 standard, which allows us to guarantee control in all processes and the food safety of our products, as well as establishing the bases for improvement. keep going.

In 2002, Bodegas Terras Gauda acquired Bodegas Pittacum, in the Bierzo Designation of Origin, to produce quality red wines from old vineyards and aged in oak.

In 2010 we incorporated the Quinta Sardonia winery, in Sardón de Duero, into the Group, where we produce high-end red wines under the principles of biodynamics.

We have diversified the business line in 2008 with A Rosaleira, an artisanal canned vegetable factory founded in O Rosal in 1940.

VINEYARD

Since its foundation in 1989, Terras Gauda has been a pioneer with different research projects, thereby strengthening its commitment to R&D&i as a differentiating element to produce wines with marked uniqueness and quality.

Thanks to the excellent collaboration between Terras Gauda and the CSIC (Higher Council for Scientific Research), we have achieved important advances in viticulture and oenology year after year from 2001 to today.

This synergy has allowed us to be the locomotive of scientific advances applied to Galician, even Spanish, viticulture, the result of a realistic and practical development of R&D&i in the search for a deep knowledge of our varieties, both from the viticultural aspect as from the oenology.

The Royal Galician Academy of Sciences recognized Terras Gauda for its research projects on Albariño - in which the IFI (Industrial Fermentation Institute) and the Biological Mission of Galicia had collaborated - by awarding us the 2009 Research Prize.
